A RISING young star has already stamped his mark on the final round of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge presented by Pirelli, racing this weekend with the Shannons Nationals at Phillip Island.
19-year-old Warwick driver Matt Campbell is making his outright class debut in the one-make Porsche series and rocketed to the top of the timesheets in official practice on Friday afternoon – a full 1.2 seconds quicker than noted Porsche ace, Peter Fitzgerald.
Campbell's performance was the highlight of a busy day of practice at Phillip Island today as round 7 of the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals got underway.

A 207km/hr crash at the fastest corner on the circuit less than a month ago hasn’t been enough to stop Chelsea Angelo from impressing in practice for round 6 of the Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship at Phillip Island.
The OzStaff Racing Dallara F307 driver finished 0.03s behind championship leader Simon Hodge in practice today in what is her first time back in the car following a massive crash at the track several weeks ago during a private testing session.

FORMER full-time V8 Supercar Championship regular Cameron McConville will return to the wheel of a V8 Commodore in this weekend’s fourth round of the Kumho Tyres Australian V8 Touring Car Series at Phillip Island.
McConville, 40, last competed in a V8 Supercar at Bathurst in 2012 and has since become Porsche Cars Australia Motorsport Manager.
The five-time Bathurst 1000 podium finisher will drive an ex-Holden Racing Team Commodore for Eggleston Motorsport this weekend as teammate to rookie Justin Ruggier.
