Kerrick Sports Sedan National Series

The latest news on entries for round one of the KSSS makes for exciting reading and the prospect of some close racing at Wakefield Park. With twenty six entries confirmed for the meeting, most of which are S1 cars (outright class), plus a small field of the new group of Heavy Metal cars and just two of the under 3.5 litre N/A sports sedans.

Heading the list of S1 entrants is Des Wall in the immaculate C6 Corvette. Des will be anxious to defend his title and carry the No 1 plate into 2011. Challenging Des Wall will be Darren Hossack in the always beautifully presented John Gourlay built and maintained Audi A8. We can expect to see Darren, a multiple champion in sports sedans and Arrow super karts do his utmost to wrest the title from Des Wall.

Daniel Tamasi will be out to impress in his Calibra/Chev as will Kerry Baily in his Nissan 300ZX/Chev. Phil Crompton has employed an experienced race engineer in Shane Stansfield and both have been busy during the off season with some small but potentially important changes to the Mustang. The entry missing that will be a surprise to many is that of Tony Ricciadello. As most will know by now, Tony has been contracted to Kelly racing in the V8 Super Car series and will drive a brand new VE Commodore beginning with the Abu Dhabi meeting.

The new Heavy Metal group, introduced for the first time this year has attracted three entries. From NSW, Sam Silvestro has entered his 2.6 litre turbo RX7 which even as a HM car should be very competitive with the much heavier 6 litre Monaro of Gary Leaton from Queensland.

Also from Queensland comes Daniel Natoli driving the John English owned 5 litre Mitsubishi Magna. Although small in numbers for this meeting, the Heavy Metal group is seen as a potential "feeder category" for S1 sports sedans.

The S2 group, (up to 3.5 litre normally aspirated) has attracted two entries and should provide some good close racing at the back of the field. Damian Johnson from Melbourne is a seasoned campaigner in his Torana with a 3.3 litre Forden motor. (Holden motor with a Ford head grafted on)

On the grid with Damian will be Paul Hibberd from Queensland. Paul is as keen as mustard to get onto the track in his Datsun 1000 3.4 litre engined red rocket! With only ten days before trucks and trailers will be loaded and begin the trip to the NSW city of Goulburn, we can start the countdown to racing at Wakefield Park!Information coming soon..
