Tim Macrow has broken the all-time Australian Formula 3 record for most wins in a single season, following victory in the opening race of the season finale at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Macrow’s 14th win of the season for Alpine Motor Sports came after the three-time champion fended off a strong challenge from McDonald’s Gilmour Racing star Cameron Shields on a mid-race restart.

The Australian Formula 3 Premier Series is noted for its close competition and furious racing.

In each of the last five seasons the championship has gone down to the final race of the year with at least two drivers split by less than five points.
