Race two of the Kerrick Sports Sedan Series at Eastern Creek was effectively a carbon copy of race one for pole-sitter Tony Ricciardello (Red Rooster Alfa Romeo GTV/Chev), only this time the Alfa pilot got the jump on Darren Hossack (Auto Union Deutsche Audi A4/Chev) at the start and led for the entire race.

DETAILS

THE KERRICK SPORTS SEDAN SERIES is one of the most exciting on the annual Shannons Nationals calendar. To watch these cars get the power to the ground and accelarate is a thing of beauty.

The only down-side to the category is that many of these cars are bespoke design, and can often be off track for months at a time to be repaired, because invariably, every part is unique.

Over recent years the Kerrick Sports Sedan Series has had a resurgence, with a string of strong cars on the grid, including the John Gourlay built, Darren Hossack Driven Audi A4, the Dean Randle built (and on occasions driven) SAAB which took series debutante James Sera to victory last season, the Des Wall Camaro Trans-Am and the much anticipated Kerry Baily Aston Martin which is due to be revealed at some point in 2011.

2011 though will herald the return of six-time champion Tony Ricciardello who spent a season back in the V8 Supercar Championship Series with Kelly Racing [VE Commodore]. Ricciardello admits that he missed campaigning his own car, and is keen to get back in the winners circle after a tough season. That will come as bad news for his opponents who are sure to see a more determined and racefit West Australian eager for results. The news is good too for race fans, with Darren Hossack ‘shelving’ retirement plans to make a return at at least three rounds this season.

Daniel Tamasi will be back to impress in his Calibra/Chev and will Kerry Baily has shown in recent seasons that his ‘trusty’ Nissan 300ZX/Chev still has what it takes to run at the front.
