Future Direction of Commodore Cup
3/07/2009 at 1:16:22 AM:

The committee of the Commodore Racing Association of Australia Inc (CRAA) in conjunction with the Commodore Cup Group Pty Ltd (CCG) have met to discuss the future direction of Commodore Cup.

It was generally agreed that the current specifications of the VS Commodore Cup cars has advanced the class well, promoting close and exciting racing, and for that reason it was further agreed that the specifications of the vehicles competing in Commodore Cup will remain unchanged until at least January 1, 2014.

The main components of the current racing vehicles that will remain unchanged include;
– VS Commodore chassis
– Holden 253 V8 engine, fitted with Aluminium cylinder heads & Holley carburettor
– Super T10 gear box
– Controlled braking & suspension systems.

Whilst there may be minor changes to the technical regulations under which Commodore Cup competes, such changes will only be implemented to accommodate issues in regards to suppliers of components, changes to part numbers/specification or similar.

The nomination of the January 1, 2014 date should not be taken as meaning the specifications WILL be changed at that time.

The CRAA and CCG will meet regularly over the next 3 years to determine the best path forward for Commodore Cup to ensure that the basic ideologies of Commodore Cup of affordable and exciting racing are continued.

To further assist our competitors, the CRAA committee have appointed Racer Industries as their preferred supplier for the majority of the controlled components used for Commodore Cup racing vehicles.

Racer Industries are well known Australiawide and are able to offer competitive pricing and national delivery to all members of the CRAA.
